About Me

Originally from Buffalo New York, Carol’s love of music started at a young age; she fondly remembers the records her parents would play whether it be Big Band, Broadway shows, Classical, or ethnic music from around the world.  Her father was a physician who also sang in the Polish Men’s Choir (or whenever he felt the spirit move).  Her mother was a Professor of literature who was an accomplished violinist and also loved to sing torch songs (particularly while she washed the dishes).  Carol studied guitar during her teens and enjoyed singing folk songs, being especially influenced by the vocals of Peter, Paul and Mary, Joni Mitchell, and Judy Collins.  She relocated to the New England area to attend Brown University where she majored in Biology and studied music whenever she could, although at the time was too shy to sing in coffee houses when invited to do so.  She eventually settled in the Boston area to embark on a career in Medical Research.  While working and raising a family, she once again began public singing, this time in her church choir in Andover, MA.  Her passion for music was rekindled, and after a spontaneous rendition of “Fine & Mellow” during a rehearsal she was persuaded by the pianist at the church to start singing at local Jazz jams-little did she know that this would be the start of a whole new a chapter in her life.  She has studied voice at The Voice Studio in Andover, MA as well as guitar at the Music Clinic in Belmont NH and is grateful for the support she has always received from the many talented Jazz musicians she has worked with in the area.  Having recently stepped back from her regular day gig as a Research Laboratory Manager at Massachusetts General Hospital, Carol is thrilled to have more time to devote to her love of music and has enhanced her folk guitar skills to allow her to perform solo in selected venues.  She always looks forward to bringing the joy of music to family, former co-workers, and both old and new friends.
